Destressing With Pen And Paper

Today I’m going to share a strategy that I’ve picked up recently to help deal with stress: keeping a diary. I’ve been doing this for the past several months, and it apparently works! Most adults don’t keep diaries because that’s something that kids are supposed to do, but I find it helps me gain insight and feel more relaxed. The way it’s done is as follows:

-Read the previous 5 entries before you write a new one.

-Write what’s bothering you in great detail.

-Write a “solution”. This can be anything from what you’re doing to mitigate or resolve the problem, or what you’ll do to help prevent it.

Honestly, this has become my favorite way to get a good night’s sleep. I do this at least three times a day. I’m hoping this helps anyone reading this. There’s too many stressors in this day and age.

Meditation

Meditating 3 times a week has made me realize I waste too much of my life worrying.

It’s not necessarily worrying about one thing but rather everything and anything. Somehow, meditation seems to provide a sense of organization, like moving thoughts around your brain to their proper place becomes easier. It’s kind of an important thing to be able to do.

So this experiment with meditation has gone on for a month, and I’ve decided to keep going for another month. Relaxation is kind of an important thing now, especially with how complicated my life is.
